Spiral Cypress Tree Staircase
ONE OF A KIND! Our spiral tree staircase is constructed around the trunk of one of our old growth bald cypress. Nestled in a grove of cypress trees, this truly unique feature is one of the most picturesque swamp views New Orleans can offer!
View swamp critters such as native wild alligators, rescued baby gators, resident raccoons, and alligator snapping turtles. Who knows, it may just be feeding time!
From atop our 60’ start tower, riders will be able to see the famed Maurepas Swamp, the historic village of Frenier, Lake Ponchartrain, as well as the skyline of New Orleans! While traversing the course, riders will get up close views of the swamp habitat including cypress trees, Spanish moss, swamp flora & wildlife!
Riders MUST weigh between 45-280 lbs. ALL guests will stand upon a discrete PASS/FAIL device that will only be seen by a guide. This device ensures that everyone’s weight remains within the safe operating parameters.
If you have someone within your party who does not fit the weight requirements, our base camp has a ton of great amenities for them to enjoy. Our 2,000 square foot elevated spectating deck not only has beautiful views of the Maurepas Swamp, but also allows for a great place to cheer on your crew as they traverse the course!
We do not have specific age requirements, only a weight requirement (45-280lbs)! With that being said, younger riders must be able to handle the physical requirements of the course (walking, climbing stairs, and zipping) on their own.
Riders under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Close-Toed shoes are required! Sandals, crocs, five fingered shoes, chacos, or any derivative WILL NOT be permitted on the course.
We always recommend checking the weather prior to arrival, and dressing accordingly. For warmer weather, please dress cool! Shorts and a T-shirt is recommended for warmer months. Please keep in mind you will be wearing a harness, so anything that is not covered with clothing may become irritable (ie: tank tops, spaghetti strap tops, etc…).
Tight fitting backpacks are permitted on the course.
Everything that enters the course MUST be tethered. It’s a good idea to bring with you a secure small backpack to carry items you require onto the course. Items that are untethered will not be permitted to enter the swamp. Anything that falls is irretrievable. We have drawstring bags, phone lanyards, and water bottle lanyards available for purchase in our giftshop for those who do not have their own. Locker storage is also available to leave behind any unpermitted items safely and securely.
Cameras are permitted, but must be tethered by a 3pt harness. Regular two point harness’ are not encouraged.
Go Pro cameras are allowed on the course, but must be secure via: chest mount, selfie stick (with wrist lanyard), or helmet mount (if you require a helmet mount for your helmet, please ask your guide as you’re being fitted).
Biting insects are RARELY encountered during daylight hours. Bug spray can be worn, but must be applied prior to being equipped with your protective equipment.
Sunscreen is advised. Although most of our course is under the shade of cypress foliage, the South Louisiana sunlight is very powerful. Please make sure you apply sunscreen prior to arriving or immediately upon arrival. Once protective equipment is worn, sunscreen will not be permitted to be applied due to its corrosiveness.
