Types of Swamps in Louisiana

Brackish swamps, found along the coast, are a mix of fresh and saltwater and are home to a wide variety of plant and animal life, including mangroves, spanish moss, and oysters. Saltwater swamps, also found along the coast, are dominated by smooth cordgrass and black mangroves.

Other common animals found in the swamps include the black bear, the Louisiana pine snake, and the white-tailed deer.
