Option 1: Kayak Swamp Tour
The quiet one. Paddle through the second-largest cypress swamp in the country.
If you have never sat in a kayak in a flooded cypress forest with no motor sounds, no other boats, just paddle strokes and bird calls, that is the experience. Our guides are trained naturalists who know the ecology, the Choctaw history, and why this place is disappearing.
Who it is for
- Couples and families who want to actually see the swamp instead of speeding past it
- Anyone who wants alligator sightings (very common, not guaranteed) without the motor noise that scares wildlife off
- People who would rather learn something than just be entertained
What you should know
- Small groups, max 12 on a public tour. Trained naturalist guides, not entertainers reading off a card.
- Silent paddling means wildlife behaves naturally. You will see herons, egrets, turtles, and small alligators.
- USCG Type III life jackets, CPR-certified guides, 400-plus tours with zero guest injuries.
- 2,000+ 5 Stars.
The four tours
- Manchac Mystic (2 hr). $65 per person +$25 transpo. Our flagship. Maurepas Swamp WMA, the second-largest cypress swamp in the US. Book the Manchac Mystic tour
- Manchac Extended (4 hr). $130 per person. Same swamp, deeper in. Book the extended tour
- Honey Island (2 hr, summer only). $65 per person. Different ecosystem, blackwater swamp. Book Honey Island
- Whitney Plantation + Swamp Combo (full day). $195 per person. History in the morning, swamp in the afternoon. Book the combo
Pickup: 740 N Rampart Street, French Quarter. Round-trip transport is +$25, depart 1 hr 15 min before tour time. Driving yourself? Launch site is in LaPlace, about 35 min from the Quarter.
Option 2: NOLA Party Swamp Barge
Social $63/person or… Private. Your group, your boat, your music, alligators outside the window.
NOLA Party Barge is a private BYOB party boat in the bayou, 7 miles from the French Quarter. You bring whatever you want to drink. The captain drives. The bayou is real (cypress, gators, herons), but this is not a quiet eco-tour. It is your group having a great time on the water.
Who it is for
- Individual or couples that want to meet people
- Bachelorettes, bachelor parties, birthdays, corporate groups, family reunions
- People that want a shorter drive
- People who want access to a bathroom on the trip
- Anyone who wants to skip the hour-long van ride to Slidell or Lafitte
- Privates: Groups who want privacy: no strangers on your boat, period
What you should know
- Private boat, your group only.
- BYOB
- 1 hr 45 min on the water. Not a 30-minute loop.
- 15 to 20 min Uber from the French Quarter to the marina. Closest swamp boats in the city.
- Four boats in the fleet: Freaky Tiki (25 cap), Twerkin Tiki (25 cap), Bayou Boogie (18 cap), Party Queen (22 cap).
- Real bayou. You will see gators and birds. It is not a stage set.

Option 3: Airboat Tour
The fast one. Motor-powered, classic Louisiana airboat experience.
We do not run airboats. We are a paddle company. But we know people who do, and when guests want the airboat experience (high speed, fan-powered, that classic bayou-on-an-airboat feeling), we send them to New Orleans Airboat Tours, LLC
Who it is for
- Adrenaline Junkies who want the airboat experience
- Groups who want speed and motor noise over quiet wildlife watching
- People who do not mind a longer drive from the Quarter
What you should know
- Operated by New Orleans Airboat Tours, LLC. We are not the operator, we are an affiliate.
- Duration: 1 Hr 45 Min
- Typical price: From $69 per person
- Transportation available for $24/person
- Launch area: 4757 Orleans Way, Marrero, LA 70072
- Motor-powered means wildlife scatters. You will still see gators, but it is a different experience than the kayak.
- Worth saying out loud: motorized swamp tours create wake and noise. If that bothers you, the kayak is the right pick.
Book the large airboat tour $69
Book the small airboat tour $88

Common questions
Which swamp tour is the most popular?
The kayak tour gets the most repeat bookings and the highest review counts (2000+ five-star reviews across Google and TripAdvisor). The party barge wins for people that don’t want to stop partying and experience the swamps. The airboat wins for guests who specifically want the motor-powered adrenaline experience.
Will I see an alligator?
Common, not guaranteed. We have been doing this for years and we still do not promise wildlife sightings. On the kayak tour, the quiet approach means animals behave naturally, so you usually see more than people expect. On the party swamp barge and the airboat, gators are common from the boat.
What is the closest swamp to the French Quarter?
The party barge launches in Bayou Bienvenue, about 7 miles (15 to 20 min Uber) from the Quarter. The kayak tour is in the Maurepas WMA, about 35 min from the Quarter. The swamp kayak rental is also at Bayou Bienvenue. Most airboat operators run out of Slidell or Lafitte, 45 min away.
Can I do more than one tour in a day?
Yes. The most common combo is a morning kayak tour and an afternoon party barge. Different ecosystems, different energy, one trip. Use the form above and we will set it up.
Is the airboat tour run by you?
No. We do not run airboats. We are a paddle company. The airboat listed above is run by New Orleans Airboat Tours, LLC, a partner we trust. We get an affiliate fee on bookings.
What if it rains?
The kayak tour runs in light rain (you will get wet either way). Lightning shuts everything down. We will move you to another date or refund you. Each operator handles cancellations a little differently. Full policies on each tour booking page.
Why we wrote this page
Most swamp tour search results are written by operators who only sell one kind of tour, so they tell you their tour is the best one. We run the kayak tour and the party barge, and we work with a good airboat operator. That gives us the unusual freedom to actually tell you which one is right for your group.
If you book through us, great. If you book direct with the airboat partner through the link above, also fine. We want you to have a good trip more than we want a specific booking.
